TELECOMMUNICATORS

Public Safety Telecommunicators (PSTs) are comprised of a select group of non-sworn emergency service workers who are the first “first responders” to answer the call.   Whether it’s a phone call, text message to the dispatch center, or an officer or firefighter on the radio, the center is staffed 24/7/365.

After receiving the call, they process the information and assign the proper resources to handle the incident.  PSTs are highly trained professionals who can guide callers through an emergency before police, fire and EMS personnel arrive.

Among the many skills PSTs possess, the ability to give detailed CPR and hemorrhage control instructions are at the top.  PSTs must do their best to remain calm with often frantic callers.  The men and women of the Bristol Police Communications Division are among the best in the business!
