Economic and Community Development (ECD) fosters an environment that is supportive of economic development and growth. The ECD manages a number of economic development incentive programs to encourage the retention, expansion, relocation, or creation of new businesses within the City. Community Development
NEIGHBORHOOD ASSISTANCE TAX CREDIT PROGRAM
Program Summary
The Neighborhood Assistance Act Tax Credit Program offers businesses tax credits when they invest in programs under the provisions of the Act. Programs can include energy conservation, employment and training, child care services, neighborhood assistance, and other services.
To qualify for the program, applicants must be bona fide tax-exempt organizations and the projects must relate to community or neighborhood services in Bristol.
COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT BLOCK GRANT PROGRAM
Programs and projects that utilize U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development formula funding according to a five-year Consolidated Plan and an Annual Action Plan. Click Here Version Options Economic and Community Development Headline

CDBG Year 51
The Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Program 5-Year Consolidated Plan is currently available for viewing. The plan includes new goals based on surveys of Bristol residents and social service agencies to assess current and future community needs.
Housing Rehab Program
The Economic and Community Development Department offers a Residential Housing Rehabilitation Program for major home and energy efficiency improvements that benefit low- and moderate-income Bristol homeowners. Grants are available to reimburse up to 50% of approved costs for improvements made to owner-occupied homes.
Starting January 1, 2025, the program will convert to a no-interest loan that must be repaid when the property is sold. Contact the ECD office at 860-584-6185 for the updated guidelines.
Grants and Brownfields
Secure funding for a variety of city-wide projects. Obtains and administers grants to remediate contaminated properties known as Brownfields.
